Jungle justice as the name implies has gotten too deep in this part of Africa and today we see many innocent people fall victim to this. Sometimes back in 2012,  around October,  four University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) students were stripped naked, beaten up and burnt alive due to a case of mistaken identity. Someone mistakenly called them thieves and the angry community decided to take laws into their hands because according to them, thieves have been a continual nuisance to them. Today, after years gone by, Nigerians have refused to learn from that ugly incident.

We hear and see every day, how people take laws into their hands and decide to take lives in an ugly manner in the name of jungle justice when there are security agencies where these people can be taken to for further investigations.

Recently a jungle justice took place in Edo – Benin and Delta- Agbor where some persons took laws into their hands. In Benin, a young lady who spent a night with a young man in an hotel was accused of stealing an iPhone belonging to the young man. The young man and the hotel management tried to force her to take responsibility for the missing phone but she refused claiming she did not take it. Then, she was taken to a native doctor who according to them consulted his oracle and declared that the young lady actually stole the phone. She was stripped naked and fresh pepper was forcefully inserted into her vaginal. Now my question is, Was the native doctor a detective agent? Was there no security agency around the vicinity?? Were they right in dealing with such issues they did??? Now, the media haven brought the issue before the public, security agencies and the government of Edo state has seen to the arrest of the young men who perpetuated this evil act who are currently pleading for mercy. Here are some of video of them in station

The one in delta state is security Aide to the delta state government and a group of thugs beating up and publicly assaulting  a lady, because of the violence in the video I cannot upload it here. where a naked woman was being assaulted by some men, while tied up. but all this jungle justice has to stop. acting on orders of one dishonorable Friday Eluro, an Aide of Gov @IfeanyiOkowa of Delta state, publicly assaulting and dehumanizing one Miss Dada of Delta state.  The police have arrested the so called Aid to the governor and the this is what the Delta State government have to say

On Friday, Okowa had sacked Friday Eluro as his security aide, and directed full investigation into the incident.

A statement signed by Charles Aniagwu, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, noted that having watched the video of the assault on the woman, directed that Eluro’s appointment as security aide be terminated forthwith to serve as deterrent to others.

“In the last three and a half years, our administration has worked so hard to entrench enduring peace in our state, and we will not sit back and fold our hands to watch appointees of government or any other person, no matter how highly placed in society, take laws into their hands,” the statement read.

According to Aniagwu, the governor frowned at the unwarranted assault on the woman, especially from an appointee of government, who ought to ensure that rule of law is observed in all situations, just as he warned government appointees to be of good behaviour and always remember that they are ambassadors of government, and are supposed to be role models in the society.

In the same vein, on Saturday, the Obi of Owa kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Emmanuel Efeizomor, announced the withdrawal of the ‘Onyewebudan, son of Owa’ chieftaincy title from Eluro over the assault.

A statement personally signed by the Owa traditional ruler and obtained by SaharaReporters, read: “My attention has been drawn to the circulating video recording, evidencing the unjustifiable dehumanizing act of Chief of Owa Kingdom named as ‘Mr Friday Eluro’ known as ‘Onye Webudan son of Owa’ on a helpless woman within the precincts of Owa Kingdom by the Owa community council.

My question now is what is the government doing to set a law to stop these jungle justice ? should all these ugly act and ugly beating to death continue the government need to come to protect his citizen by providing a law in place to put an end to all this jungle justice

Thank God for the progress and the steps the Edo state government has taken to put an end to child marriage. 2 years jail term for wife beaters … life imprisonment for perpetrators of Female Genital Mutilation, we wait for same law to stopn and put those involve too in jail for jungle justice
