The recent sacking of 35 aides of the vice president has taken a new twist as Yoruba leaders have become interested in the matter.
Elder statesmen in the southwest region have come out to condemn the oppression being meted out to the vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo, in an attempt to disgrace him out of office. The VP was recently removed from the Economic Management Team that has always been chaired by the office of the Vice President since 1999.
Speaking on the alleged humiliation of Osinbajo, Prof Banji Akintoye, said the intimidation of Yoruba sons would not be allowed. He made it clear that they are observing what is happening to non Fulani people in the seat of government.He made it clear that the Yoruba will not fold their hands and watch their sons disgraced in corridors of power, regardles of political affiliations.
However, on his part, Afenifere chieftain, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, said he the South West has not benefited from APC and as such, he has told the national leader of the party, Tinubu and VP Osinbajo to leave the party. He said at the age of 91, the only thing he wants to see is a better Nigeria. Meanwhile, spokesperson of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, said there is a plan to to humiliate Yemi Osinbajo and not the South West. He also accused the vice p[resident of not supporting the region since he became VP.
