His supposed wife has been identified as Swabullah Nabukeera.
There are facts which indicates that the couple exchanged marriage vows in Islamic culture or Nikah (legal marriage contract between man and woman).
His gender was revealed after he was involved in a theft which landed him in the police station.
According to Swabullah, he decided to get married to the imam to extort money
According to reports, the coule had not performed their conjugal duties in the sense of sexual intimacy as the wedded wife gave an excuse of being in her menstrual period.
The Imam of Kyampisi mosque who said he found Tumushabe at the Kyampisi mosque was understanding and decided to allow time for his wife to complete her period.
As the wait protracted, Mutumba’s neighbour complained to him that his newly wedded wife had jumped over a wall and stole their television set and clothes.
The theft case was reported to the Kayunga Police Station where ‘her’ gender was discovered.
The Kayunga District criminal investigations officer said: “As the police’s normal practice, a female police officer, searched the suspect thoroughly before taking ‘her’ to the cells. However, to the shock of the officer, the suspect had stacked clothes in the bra to hoodwink that they were breasts”.
“On further search, we discovered that the suspect had male organs. We quickly informed ‘her’ husband who had escorted her to the police station,” Mugera said.
The imam who was surprised by the developments narrated how he met his ‘beautiful’ love of his life.
“I was looking for a woman to marry and when I landed on a beautiful girl wearing a hijab, I asked her for love and she accepted. We fell in love, however, she told me we could not have sex until I take dowry to her parents and also exchange marriage vows,” a visibly shocked Mutumba narrated.
