A Nigerian soldier was said to have been electrocuted while defending his motherland. Hewas fighting alongside his colleagues to repel an attempt by Boko Haram insurgents to overrun Damaturu, Yobe State capital.
Boko haram terrorists overran Damaturu on Thursday from Gashua, a community towards north of Damaturu, military sources said.
As residents fled for safety, troops from the Nigerian Army 233 Battalion were quick to respond to the attacks alongside a contingent of police officers, who succeeded in beating the terrorists back into the bushes.
According to information, the Military were able to successfully repel the attack.
Unfortunately, the Army lost a captain who was amongst the troops that responded to the attack, as died after a live power cable fell on him.
The Nigerian Army 27 Task Force Brigade confirmed the officer’s death in an internal message to other military departments.
