The Nigerian government had on Wednesday, January 29, issued a red alert, asking its citizens not to travel to China for now as the dreaded coronavirus spreads across the globe.
According to Daily reports, the warning sent a section of Nigerians into panic mode including hospital workers.
This warning was issued by the minister of health, Osagie Ehanire after a federal executive council meeting in Abuja.
Apart from halting any travel to China, all Nigerians returning from the Asian country are to be immediately quarantined for at least 14 days before they are allowed to join their families as this would allow the government check out for signs of the virus which is supposed to manifest within the period.
According to the government, the instruction has been passed to all airlines operating in the country to ensure they pass information on any suspected cases.
The government also activated all agencies handling diseases to be on red alert.
