Christian leaders in Edo State have endorsed Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu ahead of the Edo state governorship election the coalition made up of church leaders urged Christians to vote for the APC governorship candidate and his running mate
The religious leaders said the endorsement was informed after they examined the interest of God in relation to the election
The governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) guber candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has received a major boost as the Coalition of Christian leaders have endorsed his first term in office.
According to The Nation, the church leaders cutting across all denominations announced the endorsement of the APC candidate at its one-day conference in Benin city.
The church leaders urged Christians no matter their denominations, to vote for Ize-Iyamu and his running mate, Mallam Gani Audu.
In a communiqué issued and signed by highly-respected Christian clerics in Edo state at the end of the conference, the church leaders said the endorsement was informed by meetings in which they examined the interest of God in relation to the election.
They concluded that the SIMPLE agenda manifesto of Ize-Iyamu is a plan that will put the people and Edo state on the path of development.
Similarly on another report, over 400 religious leaders in Edo have endorsed the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, for a second term.
The religious leaders also promised to mobilise thousands of their followers to vote for Obaseki at the September 19 governorship election. The religious leaders who are mostly pastors in Assemblies of God Church said the governor’s re-election will enable his administration to consolidate on the successes recorded in the first term.
