    Chimamanda Awarded for fighting for Gender Equality

    Seasoned Nigerian author and renowned feminist Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche has received international recognition alongside English writer and activist, Scarlett Curtis for fighting gender inequality with written words.

    International organization Equality Now had on Thursday, November 21 recognized both authors at the annual Make Equality Reality Gala in New York City.

    While accepting the honour, Adiche made it clear that she was a feminist ever before she knew what the word meant.

    In a statement issued by the organisers of the award ceremony, the prize is awarded to “persons or institutions whose work serves the ideals of the enlightenment by overcoming ideological barriers and promoting reason and tolerance towards dissenters.
