A 300 level student of the University of Benin who was studying Medical Laboratory Science reportedly committed suicide.
The deceased whose name is Christabel Buoro, is believed to have taken sniper on Tuesday in her off campus residence in Ekosodin.
She left a note behind and asked whoever sees the note to hold two ladies she mentioned responsible, citing the reason for committing suicide as “irreconcilable differences”. A bottle of sniper was also found beside her body.
At 7:15pm, a police van was seen recovering her body from her apartment in Ekosodin to the University of Benin morgue.
Mr. Michael Osasuyi the spokesman for the University of Benin has confirmed the development.
“It is unfortunate that we lost one of our students. We sympathize with the deceased family most especially the MLS department”
A police source said investigations had begun. “The two ladies (whose names were listed in the suicide noted) have been invited for questioning, they are currently in our custody, that is all I can tell you for now”. He also added that “her (the deceased) family wouldn’t want any detail in public now until investigation has been concluded”.
It also came to our notice that she had attempted suicide before in 100 level after she was raped by taking an overdose of paracetamol.
According to our investigation, Christabel has always been a depressed lady, she always talks about a life free from pains, she is also very secretive and her friends are the only ones that understand her well.
